"Mohammedan Prayer Room"

17 Rector Street
Alleged Muslim "prayer room."
A "Mohammedan Prayer Room" was allegedly opened by the Ottoman consul in 1912. Nothing more is known about it, either whether it was in fact opened, nor who might have taken advantage of it. If it did in fact exist, its location in the heart of the Syrian community implies a significant Muslim presence nearby.
