Downtown Community House
105-107 Washington Street
The Downtown Community House was part of the Settlement House movement that took root in early part of the twentieth century.
A 1917 article counted twenty-eight immigrant nationalities represented in the Washington Street neighborhood. The Dowtown Community House, built in 1925, replaced two older tenements at 105-107 Washington Street. It is one of the last vestiges of this immigrant neighborhood.
