The last remanants of the Syrian presence on Washington Street
This section of Washington Street was the last surviving remnant of the Syrian neighborhood, which was finally destroyed in the mid 1940s to build the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel. 71 Washington Street housed the defunct Syrian Kourbage Grocery Store.
